Here comes football season!

Last year Adam and Blake played football for the Brantley Bulldogs, and loved it! We were torn between college football Saturdays that we love, and supporting our children on Saturdays watching them play. Of course our children won, and we watched replays. Brock also had an ESPN Score App for his phone. As we are getting ready for another football season, Blake has decided not to play football this year. Adam still lives and breathes football!!

I'm back!!!

Well at least for now! It has been an extremely long time since I have posted on my blog. I didn't even know if it would remember me!

This year has been very busy for us. Started off with basketball every Saturday. Then baseball and all-stars. I have been on a mission trip this year. We have had an amazing garden this year. So when I am home, I am putting up vegetables.

Even though we have been busy, I have enjoyed every minute of it! I will post pictures when I can to catch you up on the awesome happenings in Brantley.

Christmas Parade in Brantley

Brantley had their Christmas parade at 4:00 pm on Saturday! Right in the middle of the SEC Championship game. Glad I am not very passionate about college football. Adam and Blake rode on the Mt. Zion children's float. We had a blast. The attendance was not very high due to the game. The float's theme was "Jingle for Jesus". We had jingle bell bracelets, necklaces and tamborines. Candace and her helpers did a wonderful job decorating and putting everything together. Tracy said, "This feels like a wedding day! So much prepration and it's over in 15 minutes" I love making memories with friends.

Youth Hunt Weekend

Opening weekend for youth was November 13th, 14th, and 15th. On Saturday, Nov 14th, Brock and Adam went into the woods for the first time this year. When they got to the shooting house, wasp had taken over. So, they hid in the woods. They heard a deer snorting and blowing(which is not a good sign because that means the deer can smell something strange). Adam came back and said that that was his worst hunting trip ever. At least Brock and Adam got to spend some time together in the woods.

On Sunday, Nov 15th, Brock and Blake headed into the woods. I told Brock that me and Adam were going to church at 5:30. I would take my phone in on vibrate if Blake killed a deer. Brock was thinking that they were going to be able to meet us at the evening service.

Adam and I were on our way to church. We got to the red light in Brantley, and my phone rang. Brock said, "You need to turn around!" So me and Adam turned around. We were so excited. I asked Blake what did he kill. He said, "A two point". Brock went back into the woods and brought the deer back. Adam and Blake were super excited.

Adam said, You may have gotten the first deer, but I am going to get the biggest deer!"

Blake did not like the idea of blood on his face. Brock, being the best dad ever, did not drown him in blood. He only smeared a little on each cheek. Notice his fingers. He didn't mind playing in the blood with his hands though. Yuck!!!

At the end of the night I did not know who was happier, Brock, Blake, or Adam!

Halloween 2009

This Halloween was a little different than the others. On Thursday, October 29th, we went trick-or-treating on Main St in Brantley. Brantley Baptist was having their Fall Festival that night also. The neatest game at BBC was "donut on a string". They tied a donut to a string and hung it up. You had to eat the donut with using your hands! It was hilarious watching Adam and Blake trying to eat their donuts.

Blake went second. He was at an advantage because of watching Adam's technique. Blake ate his donut in no time.

On Sunday, November 1st, Mt. Zion had their Fall Festival. The most exciting game was the "Bible Verse Jail". You had to win a ticket from another game, go to the jailor with your ticket, and tell him who you want in jail. The jailor sends someone to find them . . . and they get thrown in jail. In order to get out, you had to quote a memory verse. Not one that you know . . . one the jailor gives you! He had Bible verses from the kids sunday school classes.(They are suppose to memorize the scriptures every week.) So, they should know most of the scriptures he had them quote. But the scarey thing about this game . . . it was not limited to children. Many adults were thrown in jail also. Thankfully, I was not.

Each game had a Jesus theme. "Walking in the Footprints of Jesus" aka the cake walk. Blake trying so hard to win a cake. He was very successful. He won 2 cakes and Adam won 1. We ended up giving some away!

I don't remember the theme to this game, but you actually win goldfish. We came home with 2. One has been flushed down the toilet. The other is still swimming strong. He has adopted the name of Bobby.

We had a wonderful time. Mt. Zion is a wonderful church family. We are really excited about what God is going to do with Mt. Zion in the next year. They teach the Bible and don't change its message. They have welcomed our family with open arms and have loved on us like crazy.

Our friendships from Hopewell will never be replaced. Hopewell will have a special place in our hearts forever. Brock was saved and baptised their and we were married there. But put all of that to the side, and there is an incredible love for each other and Jesus.

Charleston - Summer 2009

Cousins Having Fun

I love the city of Charleston. And not only because I have a brother, Nathan, and a sister, Nancy, that lives there, but because there is always something to do. On Friday when we arrived there was an outdoor concert on Kiawa Island. We had a blast there. The children danced and played. Hailey is the best dancer of the group.

On Saturday, we went to downtown Charleston. There was a farmer's market and jumping houses that the kids loved. Then we went to a park under the new bridge. It is the "largest cable-stay bridge in North America".

On Sunday, we went to a sandbar by boat. We rode in the "Hailey Marie". Nathan named his boat after his daughter. The low-country in Charleston reminds me of how much God wants us to enjoy his scenery. Paige, Michael, me, Adam, Blake, Nathan, and Hailey had a wonderful time spending time with our brothers, sisters, and cousins.

We went to a water park in Statesboro, GA with Paige and Michael. There was a ride called "Flow Rider". You could stand on a surf board and try to surf, or lay on your stomach on a boogie board. Adam and Blake both loved it. They only did the boogie board. They would start on their stomachs and try to get up on their knees. And we HAD to make sure their shorts were tide thightly. There were many people who did not think about their swim bottoms!! Uh Oh!

I only got Blake on camera. When Adam was getting on the board, it started lightining. So I was not able to get him on camera. We have laughed and laughed at this video.

"A bad day of fishing is better than a good at work"

I am not sure if this saying is true for everyone. Personally, I would like a good day at work better than a bad day of fishing. Brock and Adam started off on the boat and me and Blake were on the side. Blake caught the only fish. I was glad that it was him because this was his first outing since his surgery.

If you look carefully at Adam, you may see his tongue sticking out. When he consentrates really hard, he must have his tongue sticking out to help.

After about an hour, Blake decided to get on the boat.

Even though we did not catch a lot or even a few fish, we did have a good time spending time with each other. And by the way, Brock painted the boat! He told me he was going to paint the boat camoflauge. I was thinking that it was going to be awful. But, I think he did an awesome job.

The Toughest Boy I Know

Blake had his tonsils and adnoids out on Friday, July 10th. He was the toughest boy ever. On Thursday, we had to go to the hospital for the pre-op lab work. I was nervous that he was not going to sit still and the nurse and I were going to have to hold him down. What was I thinking! We prayed about it before we went in, so why didn't I trust that Jesus was going to handle it. He was so brave. He sat in the chair, layed his arm out, and did not move. He did not whine, complain, or flinch. I was amazed. He is such a brave little boy.

Friday mornning. Papa . . . . . where are you? Are you almost at the hospital? Blake and his Papa are very close. And of course, Papa was in the parking lot when Blake called!

Andalusia Regional Hospital has the best staff. They are very kid friendly. They gave Blake a choice between a wagon or a bed. He chose the bed. I thought he would've chosen the wagon.

When Blake was rolled back into the room, the first thing he said was, "Where's Adam?" Adam and Lala were on their way.

Happy Father's Day

Adam and Blake have the best step-dad in the entire world. He loves them like they are his own.

This father's day we went to my dad's for the afternoon. When it came time to open presents and read cards, I told him to save mine until last. Since I was in Ecuador earlier, I thought it would be funny to get him a card there. When he opened it he was surprised. Nobody knew what it said! Molly was looking at the card and saw a translation on the back. Who would have thought? Then we got to read what the card actually said.

After everyone left I told Blake that he really needed to pull his tooth. Papa, my dad, said that he had a trick with a dish towel. He said that there was something special about pulling a tooth with a dish towel. Papa was able to pull his tooth. He came running into the living room where everyone was. We had been waiting for the tooth to just fall out because he would not let anyone pull it. I guess Papa as a "special dish towel".
